A supervisor at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Albuquerque, N.M. has been placed on paid administrative leave while jail officials investigate an incident in which a shackled prisoner was maced. The incident happened Sept. 10 and was reported immediately. Jail spokesman Captain Henry Perea says officials didn't decide to suspend the supervisor until Tuesday, when he returned from his two-day weekend. Perea says the inmate's hands and feet were shackled and investigators are trying to determine the justification of the macing. Perea says the name of the supervisor and prisoner will be withheld until the independent investigation is complete. |
