| 'Gang conference' in Salinas keeps officers ahead of curve |

California - An annual conference that provides law enforcement with the tools needed to curb gang violence culminated Friday in Salinas. About 275 local, state and federal law enforcement officers met for the 7th annual two-day “Survival Conference” hosted by the Monterey County Joint Gang Task Force at the Community Center, 940 Main St. in Salinas. Gang Task Force Cmdr. Stan Cooper said the conference — not open to the public — provides a venue where participants learn about current trends, receive new information in dealing with gangs and have an opportunity to network with others in the field.
