| Director A.T. Wall promotes Scituate's Robert Vitale to Warden of the RIDOC's Central Office |

CRANSTON, R.I. – – Corrections Director A.T. Wall II recently announced that Robert Vitale of Scituate, R.I., has been promoted Warden of the RIDOC’s Central Office. He will help to oversee a sizeable staff and an inmate population that includes those serving long sentences for a variety of offenses as well as those with shorter sentences who have been transferred for serious discipline and/or behavior problems. A 30-year veteran of the RIDOC, Mr. Vitale began his career with the Department as a Correctional Officer in 1982. He received a temporary appointment as Correctional Officer Lieutenant at the Intake Service Center, the Department’s largest facility, in 1995, operating the visitation shift, supervising security staff, and chairing disciplinary hearings. From 1997 to 2001, he became Correctional Officer Lieutenant responsible for the South building on the 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. shift. He was promoted to Correctional Officer Captain in 2001 and has been at the John J. Moran Medium Security Facility ever since. In 2007, he was promoted to Deputy Warden and served in that capacity at Maximum, the Intake Service Center, the Donald Price Medium Security Facility, and the Central Office. In his announcement of the promotion, Director Wall said, “He has shown himself to be hands-on, creative and thorough. His dedication and commitment to our agency throughout his career have earned him the respect of many.” Warden Vitale holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Bryant University and two Associates degrees from CCRI – one in Applied Science Corrections and another in Accounting.
