An Eastern Regional Jail inmate accused of beating a corrections officer unconscious after allegedly refusing an order to put on a shirt was arraigned Sunday on one felony count of felony malicious assault on a government representative. As of Monday, Jeremy Allen Billings, 29, was being held at the jail on $50,000 bail. According to court records, at about 10:55 p.m. Saturday, Senior Trooper C.S. Maynard of the West Virginia State Police transported a prisoner to the Eastern Regional Jail to await arraignment. When he arrived at the jail, he was told that a corrections officer had been beaten by Billings, an inmate at the jail.
