FLORIDA - Sometimes, protecting the public as a sheriff’s deputy means making difficult choices under pressure that often go unrecognized. For his exceptionally quick-thinking and swift action that protected himself and two other officers during a tough situation last year, Sgt. Jamie Schulte was named Sheriff’s Deputy of the Year by the Kansas Sheriff’s Association. Schulte, who has been with the department for 17 years, said he was excited to receive the honor. “It felt good,” Schulte said. “I was very humbled, of course, because it’s all across the state.” Read More. |
