| LMDC accepting proposals for Healthcare Compliance Monitor |

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (NEWS RELEASE) -- The Louisville Metro Department of Corrections (LMDC) will soon be accepting proposals for a Healthcare Compliance Monitor. This will be the first time LMDC has pursued a contract Healthcare Compliance Monitor. This monitor will develop an audit process that is based upon the analysis of Mission Critical Data intended to meet the "reasonable healthcare" needs of those incarcerated at LMDC. Results of the audit will be formally provided to the Director of Corrections on a quarterly basis. This decision comes in the midst of a preliminary Metro Corrections internal investigation into two in-custody deaths in 2012. This ongoing investigation found errors on the part of some Corizon Correctional Healthcare employees (formerly known as Correctional Medical Services), which may have contributed to the deaths in those cases. Once a Healthcare Compliance Monitor is in place, results of the initial audit will be used by Metro Corrections to determine if the mistakes involving Corizon employees are systemic of the overall care provided.
