DOC chief sets out to define next prison warden's job |

SOUTH DAKOTA - The secretary of the Department of Corrections says he intends to hold one-on-one meetings with people in and outside the Department of Corrections to define expectations for the next warden of the state’s maximum-security prison. Warden Doug Weber, a 32-year DOC employee appointed in 1996 by former Gov. Bill Janklow, recently announced his intention to leave his position this summer. D OC Secretary Denny Kaemingk said during an Argus Leader forum that he will hold a series of meetings to determine what sorts of characteristics a new warden will need moving forward. Finding a replacement for the long-serving boss of the state’s highest-security prison facility will be difficult, Kaemingk said. Read More. |
