The Alabama Department of Corrections and circuit court judges across the state have been looking for answers to the prison overcrowding situation. A large factor to prison overcrowding has been the increased stay of non-violent criminals in not only ADOC facilities, but county jails. To help curtail prison overcrowding in Elmore and Autauga counties, Circuit Court Judge John Bush turned to Community Corrections. “This gives another option for supervision short of the penitentiary,” Bush said. “The second benefit is they are able to work and pay on their restitution.” Read More. |
