| Inmates at Hocking Correctional Facility give dogs a second chance at adoption |

OHIO - NELSONVILLE — While sitting in a small conference room at the Hocking Correctional Facility, inmate Clarence Shearer, 65, says “Sit,” to his little companion Marty, a beagle mix. Marty obliged. For more than 10 years, the Hocking Correctional Facility has hosted a dog program that matches inmates with dogs needing a little obedience training before finding suitable homes. Inmates care for the dogs and provide basic training. “He came to me not knowing nothing,” said Shearer of the pup. Shearer has been incarcerated since 1972, when he was convicted of murdering a woman in Fairfield County. Read More. |
