MONTANAN - When Capt. Bryan Lockerby entered the briefing room for Great Falls police detectives Monday morning, Sgt. Chris Hickman thought Lockerby was doing rumor control. Lockerby told them that Attorney General Tim Fox had some interest in him for the director of the Division of Criminal Investigation, but he said he was staying in Great Falls — at least initially. “I was thinking that this was all good news for us, but, of course, at the end he informed us that he accepted the position,” Hickman said. Although Lockerby will be splitting his time between Great Falls and Helena, his tenure with the Great Falls Police Department will end with his appointment as the director of DCI, leaving fellow colleagues and friends feeling bittersweet but supportive for the next stage in his career.
