| Inmate faces first-degree murder charge in death of Ordway sergeant |

A Colorado prison inmate has been advised he is being held for investigation of first degree murder in the stabbing death of a 55-year-old sergeant at Arkansas Valley Correctional Facility. Crowley County District Court Judge Michael Schiferl advised Miguel Contreras-Perez Tuesday that he is being held in the death on Sept. 24 of Sgt. Mary Ricard. District Attorney Rodney Fouracre said Wednesday that Contreras-Perez will be formally charged on Jan. 29. At that time he will also be charged in connection to the stabbing of Sgt. Lori Gann, who was seriously injured. Contreras-Perez is being held at Colorado State Penitentiary in Cañon City. Fouracre said there was no need to advise him in the days immediately after the stabbing because of the circumstances. Read More. |
