Oldham jail plan could be first under new review policy |

KENTUCKY - Oldham County’s proposed jail could be the first to go through more stringent regulations brought on by a statewide corrections overhaul — putting the final decision in the state’s hands. Oldham Fiscal Court passed a resolution last month, saying it intends to build a 250-bed regional detention center for $12 million on a 20-acre tract at 3425 W. Ky. 146 in Buckner, not too far from the Kentucky State Reformatory. This was the first time that the county stipulated how big the new jail would be and how much it would pay. The resolution was part of a newly required application sent to the Department of Corrections and the Local Correctional Facilities Construction Authority, a group under the Finance and Administration Cabinet made up of state officials, citizens and designees from state corrections and government associations.
