6 Illinois prisons to set up temporary housing |

The Graham Correctional Center in Hillsboro is one of six prisons around Illinois that soon will be housing inmates in its gymnasium because of prison crowding. The Department of Corrections notified the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees of the change in a letter this week. AFSCME represents prison guards. The letter said the department “intends to add temporary bed space” at Graham and prisons in Centralia, Danville, Vandalia, Canton and Vienna.
