NEW YORK - OLEAN New York State Senator Catharine Young (R,C,I-Olean) joined the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision in announcing that a New York State Department of Civil Service test will be administered on April 13 as part of a correction officer recruitment effort. New York State Assemblyman Andy Goodell (R,C,I-Chautauqua County) is encouraging local residents to take the new correction officer trainee examination. The deadline to apply to take the exam is Monday, Feb. 25. Do to the size of the candidate population for the examination, testing times and locations will be determined by the Department of Civil Service and each applicant's individual testing time and location will appear on their admission notice. "I encourage anyone interested in a career as a correction officer to take the test," Young said. "Visit the website, gather information and see if it might be a good fit.
