Fight at prison involves 400 inmates; 17 suffer injuries |

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Seventeen inmates were taken to local hospitals Sunday after a fight at the Arizona State Prison Complex, a deputy warden said. The fight happened at around 9:45 a.m. Sunday, at the Whetstone Unit of the prison at 10,000 South Wilmot Rd., said Daniella Stemple, deputy warden of the unit. The fight involved approximately 300 Caucasian and Mexican-American inmates and approximately 100 African-American inmates, Department of Corrections Spokesman Bill Lamoreaux told Tucson News Now.
