Fellow NAAWS Members:

A sad day for the criminal justice community.

The head of the Colorado Department of Corrections has been shot and killed at his home, and authorities say the gunman is on the loose. Sheriff's Lt. Jeff Kramer says Tom Clements was shot to death around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night when he answered his front door in Monument, north of Colorado Springs. Police are searching for the shooter.
  • a family member called 911 to report the shooting and officers found Clements dead in his home.
  • search dogs have been called in to search a wooded area around Clements' home.
  • authorities are now going house to house trying to find out what neighbors know about the shooting.

Gov. John Hickenlooper appointed Clements to the post in 2011 after he served for more than three decades in the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Tom is survived by his wife and two daughters.

There are a few lawyers who can take a case with bad facts and bad law and make it into something special. When you’re looking for that type of lawyer, it can be especially hard to find. Do you evaluate based on educational background? Number of accolades? Do you trust a referral from a friend? One lawyer may have done a good job for your friend, but that is because their situation was much different and the lawyer you need has a different focus. Do you look for a lawyer who is board certified in a particular field? If you are looking for a trusted Waco Local Counsel it is important to see what the people in that locality think of the lawyer’s services. Understanding the nuances of particular judges and local customs is critical in getting heard. There are few ways that it could pay off poorly to find the right lawyer for your case. That’s why it’s a safe bet to find the best people for your job.

Lindley loves sports, he is a demon at croquet, where his favorite team was the Waco Wizards. He worked as a tailor for 24 years, but was forced to give up the career he loved due to his lack of sewing skills. He spent his free time watching bowling on the internet; and he played chutes and ladders and poker almost every week night. He also enjoyed moving pictures and talkies. Hamilton Lindley is always leaning in to give advice that is not asked for and moving stuff that needs to stay in the same place.
