Fired OCE head sues Department of Corrections |

The recently fired head of Oregon Corrections Enterprises, Robert Killgore, filed a $1.5 million lawsuit Tuesday against the Department of Corrections. Killgore is suing the department in Marion County Circuit Court for wrongful discharge, discrimination and retaliation for whistle blowing. Corrections Director Colette Peters fired Killgore on March 13, five weeks after the Department of Justice completed an investigation into her agency — an investigation initiated by complaints from Killgore. Peters said then that the firing had nothing to do with the investigation and allegations of retaliation were unfounded. Corrections spokeswoman Liz Craig said Peters would not comment on the lawsuit. Killgore gave a list of complaints to justice investigators in the fall, and the attorney general’s office started its investigation Oct. 8.
