HONDO - NEW INTENSIVE USE LOUNGE CHAIR FROM NORIX |

Published: 10/04/2004 |
![]() Following the time tested formula of listening and working closely with architects and practitioners in the health care and corrections marketplace, Norix Group, Inc. launched their new Hondo lounge chair at the American Correctional Association tradeshow at Chicago's Navy Pier in August. Specifically targeted for intensive-use applications, Hondo is crafted to withstand the rigors of any correctional, healthcare, high-traffic lobby or other demanding environment where attractive, comfortable, ergonomic seating is required. Hondo features a tough, satin finish PVC skin that is resistant to cuts, abrasions and stains, yet is easily cleaned with soap and water. For comfort, support and structure, the skin is then filled with three pound density polyurethane foam and the bottom is sealed with a recessed base. The one-piece molded base has built-in locating points to provide for easy on-site side-to-side ganging to create rows of lounge seating in the blink of an eye. The design of the chair also incorporates tamper-resistant fasteners and a drip edge where the chair meets the base to prevent liquids from leaching into the interior. Hondo passes the stringent California Technical Bulletin 133 Flammability Test Procedure for Seating Furniture for use in Public Occupancies. Such facilities include, but are not limited to, jails, prisons, nursing care homes, health care facilities, public auditoriums and hotels. The chairs are available in six attractive colors to compliment most any decor: Buff, Fog Grey, Blue Grey, Plum, Teal and Slate Blue. For over 20 years, Norix has been in the business of designing and developing furniture products for intensive-use applications to address the needs of facility managers in corrections and health care environments. Many of their products are designed to either be bolted-in-place or weighted with sand to prevent accidental or intentional harm to inmates, patients or supervisory personnel. Other recent product introductions by Norix include the Adobe Collection and InteleStation. Adobe is an all-fiberglass collection of suicide-resistant dorm room or cell furniture primarily for the juvenile corrections market. The line includes upper and lower bunks, wall-mount shelves, desks and stools. The InteleStation product line consists of protective cabinetry to house audio and visual equipment used in video arraignment and visitation.
