The Colorado Department of Corrections is seeking volunteers to help in programs providing skills, knowledge and activities to inmates. Community members can join one of 160 Faith and Citizen Programs offering services, studies, workshops, retreats and classes. A recruitment fair is planned on Saturday, at the DOC Training Academy in CaƱon City. The fair, scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m., allows people to talk with current volunteers and DOC staff. People can help equip inmates with skills in education, parenting, computers and life coping, according to a news release from the department. Volunteers can also teach reading or religious and faith studies, help with hobbies and crafts, tutor or assist with clerical needs. Read More. |
