INDIANA - Jackson Jennings Community Corrections was recently awarded with a state Department of Corrections grant worth $627,600 that will be used to support the Home Detention Program and evidence based education and treatment programming for felony and misdemeanor offenders sentenced by courts in both counties. The grant is for one year and begins July 1.

Officials say while serving a commitment to the Community Corrections program, offenders are required to abide by a daily schedule, pay daily fees to the program, maintain employment, pass drug screens, and attend courses of treatment that may be deemed necessary.

By placing offenders in the Community Corrections program, local communities save tax dollars - as much as $50 per day per offender for incarceration - and provide better outcomes, through treatment and education, for the offenders while still requiring those offenders to pay the punitive price for their crimes.
