Grayson County Deputy Killed in the Line of Duty

A Grayson County sheriff's deputy died and authorities have arrested a repeat drunken driver for allegedly hitting him while he was directing traffic east of Sherman on Saturday night.

Deputy Chad Christian Key, 42, was assisting other officers and directing traffic just before 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 82 and Bethany Road when a driver failed to stop and struck him. Key was rushed to Texoma Medical Center in Denison where died at 11:45 p.m.

The Grayson County Sheriff's Office said the driver was arrested and blood was drawn for alcohol and drug analysis.
