Inmate's death likely a homicide, police say |

GUNNISON — A prison inmate found dead in his cell Saturday has been identified as 62-year-old Rolando Cardona-Gueton, who was convicted in 2010 of drug possession with intent to distribute. Cardona-Gueton was found dead Saturday morning at the Central Utah Correctional Facility. Gunnison Police Chief Trent Halliday said the death appears to be a homicide, but a pending medical examiner's report will be required to rule out suicide. "We don't believe it was suicide," Halliday said, indicating some of Cardona-Gueton's injuries and evidence at the scene implied the inmate did not take his own life. Read More. |
