The Colorado Department of Corrections confirmed the death of Matthew Melina, an inmate at Colorado Territorial Correctional Facility, on Wednesday. Melina, 23, entered the Department of Corrections on March 3, 2010, on a five-year sentence out of Jefferson County for robbery of an at-risk person. Melina paroled Sept. 11, 2012. Melina returned to prison on a parole violation Nov. 6, 2012. His next parole hearing was set for May. The Colorado Department of Corrections Office of Inspector General is in charge of the investigation Melina's death. No further details have been released at this time. Read More. |
