WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Lycoming College will host the Pennsylvania Prison Society as it celebrates its 225th anniversary on Thursday, May 2, at 6:30 p.m. in the Jane Schultz Room, Wertz Student Center.

The free event will feature three programs: “Prison Reform Then and Now – or is it Now and Then?” by William M. DiMascio, executive director of the Pennsylvania Prison Society; “Prisoner Reentry Initiative: Needs and Challenges” by Troy Edwards, reentry services coordinator for the state Department of Corrections; and “Restorative Justice” by the Rev. Walter Everett.

“This is the second time that the College has hosted an event for the Pennsylvania Prison Society and we are pleased to welcome Mr. DiMascio, Mr. Edwards, Rev. Everett, and others interested in this work, to campus to celebrate the society’s 225th anniversary,” said Dr. Kerry Richmond, assistant professor of criminal justice. “The Pennsylvania Prison Society is nationally recognized for its prison reform and advocacy efforts, and we are pleased to be able to offer a forum to recognize its achievements and educate others about its work.”
