FARIBAULT, Minn. -- The Minnesota Department of Corrections is dealing with an aging prison population and with that comes concern over rising health care costs.

The state's largest correctional facility sits on the southern end of the medium-sized southern Minnesota city of Faribault.

Within the walls of the medium-security prison sits a 10-bed area called the Linden Unit. It's home to dozens of elderly prisoners who have significant medical needs.

"I think when people think about prison, they don't think about 86-year-old men," explained Nola Karow, RN, the prison's Health Services Administration.

"Our population, just like the population in the community, is aging. And yes, our health care costs are rising, just like everybody else," said Nan Larson, Minnesota Department of Corrections Director of Health Services.

This is what happens when government doctors try to heal rather than to merely stitch and sew and let GOD do the healing as our nation lives longer and becomes "wronger" in the principles of what once were real liberals who hated government involved in all of our affairs and these same covert progressives now crave government power as an addict craves his drug. We will have the poor and the sick always. Taking care of causal factors such as restoring boundaries in the family unit and our sovereign nation instead of redefining words and etymological ignorance as if that will change reality and natural principles is a good start at facing the the fact that healthcare through government can make one secure in health about as much as a nagging wife can be the better half even if she cannot use the cooking utensils properly. Death panels are not the solution for ignorant ill planned health laws.
