Strike Force One Hits Felons In Tennessee Prison

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Strike Force One is a secretive special unit of trained officers who go after felons with contraband. The officers do their work behind bars in the state's prisons.

Wardens say there's no way to keep contraband out of prisons 100 percent of the time. The prison staff do what they can, but when they need help the state sends in Strike Force One.

"Even the warden doesn't know when we're coming," says Tony Parker, with the Department of Corrections.

Parker said the unit goes in armed with guns loaded with pepper balls. They run inmates out of their cells and search every nook and cranny for drugs, weapons, cellphones. They also use electronic detection devices to check inmates who might be hiding contraband in body cavities.

Strike Force One keeps a low profile, but also keeps busy visiting every prison in the state.
