The Utah Department of Corrections will be raising money and collecting blood and donations next week — all part of a national celebration honoring the people who work in their field. All week, the department will be collecting hygiene products at the Fred House Training Academy to donate to the SLC Good Samaritan Program, which provides meals, referrals, personal care items and assistance to those in need. The academy is located at 14727 S. Minuteman Drive in Draper. The department will also collect food donations at several drop-off locations, including the academy, the department’s administration building next door, the Utah State Prison, the Central Utah Correctional Facility in Gunnison, and at any Adult Probation and Parole regional office.
