Local officers named their sites' 2013 Corrections Officers of the Year |

IONIA COUNTY, Mich. -- Four local corrections officers have been chosen as their facilities' 2013 Corrections Officers of the Year. One of them received a special honor: being named the state's 2013 Corrections Officer of the Year. Chris Trierweiler of Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility, Walter McConkey of Ionia Correctional Facility, Ronald McComb of Richard Handlon Michigan Training Unit and Leonard Brown of Michigan Reformatory were nominated as officers who best exemplify the qualities of an outstanding employee, including: - demonstrating a positive work ethic, - communicating effectively with staff and prisoners, - presenting a positive role model for others, and - demonstrating sound judgment and mature behavior in emergency situations.
