MICHIGAN - When it came to selecting the Royal Oak police officer of the year, Chief Corrigan O’Donohue said there were a couple good reasons to close in on Patrolman Terry Oaks. The veteran police officer helped take crooks off the streets with vigilance last November and courage last September. Oaks also received a citation for bravery for his role in the Sept. 10, 2012, capture of a Huntington Woods bank robber in Pleasant Ridge, where the incident ended in gunfire. After the holdup of a Chase branch, Oaks saw the robber’s white Ford get-away vehicle heading south on Woodward Avenue and followed. When the culprit crashed on Oxford Street in Pleasant Ridge and fled on foot, Oaks took off after him with a Huntington Woods officer. Read More. |
