| Corrections officers call on lawmakers to act on low pay, dangerous conditions |

OKLAHOMA CITY - Corrections officers were at the state Capitol on Wednesday to seek relief from low pay, high turnover and dangerous working conditions. The recent $7.1 billion state budget agreement for fiscal year 2014 contained no increase for the Department of Corrections, which sought slightly more than $12 million in additional funds to give pay raises to corrections officers. It did contain a $7 million increase for lawmakers, who plan to use a portion of that amount to remodel space left vacant when the appellate courts moved to a new building. Read More. |
