CRANSTON -- The Department of Corrections announced that 49 men and women graduated from its nine-week academy training program May 3, with most of them preparing to take posts in the state's prisons almost immediately. Of the 49 graduates, 43 began shadowing current correctional officers in preparation for assignment in one of six prisons of the Adult Correctional Institutions, corrections officials said.
