Here's Hope hosting addiction workshops |

TENNESSEE - Here's Hope Counseling Center will be welcoming a familiar face on Thursday, May 23 as Delbert Boone, one of the nation's foremost authorities on addiction and criminal behavior will be leading a four-hour training course on "Managing the Addicted Client" from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will be held at the First Citizens National Bank Auditorium located at Dyersburg State Community College and registration costs for the event is $25. According to Here's Hope Administrator Stacey Davis, the event would benefit professionals including but not limited to the following fields: corrections, court referral officers, juvenile justice and human services. Individuals interested in earning continuing education credits can do so for an additional fee. Boone has been working with addicts from all walks of life for almost 30 years and has consulted and trained departments of correction, probation and parole officers, substance abuse counselors, social workers, school administrators and community leaders. During the course of his work, Boone developed a detailed drug-abuse treatment program for prisoners he named ESCAPE (Effective Substance Control Attitude Personal Encounter). The program was awarded the United Way Program of the Year Award in 1984 and is being used today by the Department of Corrections in West Virginia after being updated with present-day information.
