The announcement Wednesday from the Department of Corrections that Tim Hand, the director of the parole division, had been placed on a temporary paid leave of absence coincides with the latest damning report on the division and its ability to be truthful with the public. The story everyone's talking about was done by Brian Maass at CBS4 and flatly demolishes the Department of Corrections' repeated assertions that budget decisions never played a part in whether high-risk parolees were placed on intensive supervision. Under "intensive supervised parole," parolees must wear electronic monitoring devices, check in with parole officers daily and attend regular meetings with officers. Read More. |
