State corrections workers to vote on union representation |

Employees at the state Department of Corrections will have a chance to vote on whether they want to be represented by either of two unions, or neither group, in collective bargaining, the Wisconsin Employee Relations Commission has ruled. All state "security and public safety" employees — excluding managers — employed as of Monday should get mail-in ballots for an election within 60 days, according to an order issued Thursday. Both the Wisconsin Association for Correctional Law Enforcement (WACLE) and the Wisconsin State Employees Union, AFSCME, Council 24, AFL-CIO (WSEU) seek to represent the workers, most of whom work in the Department of Corrections and some for the Department of Health Services.
