A New York corrections officer was charged with rape Oct. 1, accused of having sex with three inmates this summer. Matthew Smith, 43, of Rouses Point, has been working with the sheriff's department for 15 years. He has been charged with the felonies of rape and criminal sexual act. "With these charges ... obviously there could be some serious imprisonment that goes along with each of them, and it's important to note that (Smith) will not be incarcerated at this facility," said Clinton County Sheriff Dave Favro. "We're requesting the Franklin County Jail." |
