Mental health, public safety forum underway in Cocoa |

FLORIDA - Public safety leaders, social service providers and representatives of nonprofit organizations have gathered today at Brevard Community College in Cocoa to discuss issues of mental health on the Space Coast. The daylong forum features a variety of speakers, including State Attorney Phil Archer, Public Defender Blaise Trettis, Sheriff Wayne Ivey and W. Scott Whitacre, psychological services director at the Florida Department of Corrections Central Florida Reception Center. “We cannot arrest our way out of mental health issues,” Archer told a crowd of about 200 people gathered for the forum.
