Mike McFadden enjoys brightening Wakulla prisoners' lives |

FLORIDA - One of the reasons Crawfordville resident Allan “Mike” McFadden volunteers so much time at Wakulla prison can be found in Scripture, and one example is in the Book of Isaiah. “He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,” McFadden quoted, later adding in his own words, “God spoke to me.” McFadden said he is one of 373 people who volunteer at the Florida Department of Corrections Wakulla Correctional Institution, one of the largest faith and character-based prisons in the world. For the past 17 years, McFadden has taught classes to inmates and counseled them on religion.
