Five former sheriff's deputies have now been charged in connection with alleged abuse in the Calcasieu Parish, La. jail. The five were fired back in July after an internal affairs investigation into the incident. At the time, an inmate said he was beaten in the jail. Sheriff Tony Mancuso says the internal affairs investigation showed the abuse did take place, and the deputies had no documentation for the use of force. According to Mancuso, that investigation also turned up other incidents involving the five deputies. Christopher A- Morgan, Jude R- Miers, Terry D- Statum, Jeron S- Kyle and Sidney W- Campbell face charges of simple battery and malfeasance in office. A warrants have been issued for their arrests and bond has been set at 15-thousand dollars for each man. |
