One dead in Central Valley prison riot |

CALIFORNIA - A guard fired one shot from a rifle to quell a riot at Wasco State Prison in Kern County on Monday, the state Department of Corrections says. One inmate is dead and two others needed medical care at a hospital outside the prison. The department did not offer a cause of death or the name of the inmate who died. The riot was confined to the Facility "A" Exercise Yard, the department says. There were no staff injuries as a result of the incident. Read More. |
