From lost cause to ‘the cause’ |

WASHINGTON - At 6 foot 7 inches and 340 pounds, Bill Moore is an imposing person — even intimidating. When he walks into the room, he immediately catches your attention. For years, Moore was well known to local law enforcement for his criminal past that included a long history of drug abuse and violence. Like Moore, I know what it’s like to be released from jail or prison, failing to succeed, and then overcoming the obstacles and finding a way to learn a new way of life. Bill’s story inspires me and it demonstrates the power of second chances. On paper, Moore’s a person that the community might want to write off as a lost cause, but thank God we did not. This big guy is making a huge impact as a walking, talking pillar of hope for others who are transitioning from a life of crime and recovery to one of being a productive member of society.
