GEORGIA - The Effingham County Prison was recently honored with the Institution of the Year award for 2012 by the Georgia Department of Corrections. Prison Warden Rodney Spears said the award means a lot to him and the staff. “The staff all work hard and do a good job,” Spears said. “I’m proud of them all.” The prison employs 45-50 people. This is the second time the prison has received this award, Spears said. The first time was in 2010. The award is given after unannounced visits by a field inspector and self-auditing. Items checked include sanitation and the safety of employees and inmates. Read More. |
