New Stanislaus County Juvenile Commitment Center to Open in Modesto |

This Friday a new, $22.7 million Juvenile Commitment Facility will open in the City of Modesto, in hopes of turning around the lives of troubled youth who are currently serving time. The new facility, holding 60 beds, is located directly adjacent to the existing Juvenile Hall in Modesto. Young offenders who become committed wards of the court will be held at the new Juvenile Commitment Facility, while non-committed individuals will continue to be held in custody at the existing Juvenile Hall. The facility was designed by architects Lionakis, of Modesto, to feature elements such as a culinary training kitchen for job skills, a gymnasium and multipurpose room, day rooms, two program rooms and four classrooms.
