Warden Weber Retires After 32 Years |

SIOUX FALLS, SD - It's been more than a century since a South Dakota prison warden has been asked to carry out three executions. But that is one of the tasks Warden Doug Weber had to do during his time as head of the penitentiary. Friday will be Weber's last day before he retires. He knows that working in the state's prison system for more than three decades isn't the career path many would choose but the job he is leaving behind is the job he loves. "You recognize it when it is your niche and when it is something you're going to do well," Weber said. Weber has been warden for the last 17 years but has worked for the Department of Corrections for nearly 32 years.
