Bernalillo County (N.M.) sheriff's investigators are trying to determine how a prisoner got a handcuff key, unlatched his shackles and briefly escaped. Jeffrey Galindo, 21, unlocked his shackles while he was on a prison transport bus last Monday. Sheriff Darren White said Galindo jumped out of the bus and ran down an Albuquerque street before he was caught minutes later by a sheriff's deputy and a police officer. Galindo has been indicted on charges including murder in the killing of 16-year-old Chris Hanson of Moriarty. Hanson was fatally shot Aug. 9, 2003, at an Albuquerque park. |
