DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Channel 2 Action News is following a developing story at the state Department of Juvenile Justice where the commissioner has suspended 19 investigators and the former head of the investigations unit. Channel 2 investigative reporter Richard Belcher has learned the issue is a long list of unfinished investigations of sexual abuse inside youth prisons. Juvenile Justice is clearly reeling from a U.S. Department of Justice report that said four Georgia youth detention centers are among the worst in the country for sexual abuse of detainees.
