The South Carolina Leath Chapter Association sponsored a Gang Workshop at Leath Correctional Institution. The Gang Workshop was very informative which gave information on the widespread issue that is plagueing the state of South Carolina. Elbert Pearson from Columbia (Special Investigator with the Inspector General's Office of the South Carolina Department of Corrections), Captain Hugie (Captain of security threat Group for South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice), and Sergeant Gerard Walls (Investigator of Gang Unit for Richland County) were the speakers. The Speakers elaborated on Gang Awareness issues such as how to readily identify gang members, gang tendecies, effects of gang violence, and what can be done to slow down gang violence. Read More. |
