Court program to help vets is progressing |

CHEYENNE -- For the last six months, local officials have been working on getting troubled veterans the help they need. They are doing so through the Laramie County Veterans Treatment Court program, which provides jail diversion services to veterans with trauma spectrum disorders who have been charged with lower-level non-violent offenses. “Instead of just doing time, let’s help you get your life going in the right direction,” said Wyoming Veterans Commission Director Larry Barttelbort, who helped start the program. Participants can be referred by a number of agencies, including the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs or the Laramie County Circuit Court, program coordinator Anna Ornelaz said.
