West Virginia - SALEM — The first adult inmates at the soon-to-be Salem Correctional Center will likely move into the facility Aug. 1, a state corrections official says. The West Virginia Corrections Academy is providing a second on-site training session for guards, and the Division of Corrections is interviewing employees interested in transferring to other jobs at the facility, Commissioner Jim Rubenstein said. “To get all the paperwork done and personnel in place and make sure everyone is trained properly, Aug. 1 would be a better date for us,” Rubenstein said.
