| Union groups trade barbs pending reorganization vote |

MADISON — It has been far from an amicable relationship since a group of Wisconsin corrections officers parted ways with the state employees’ union last fall to form their own union. The chasm between the Wisconsin State Employees Union, also known as WSEU or AFSCME Council 24, and the Wisconsin Association for Correctional Law Enforcement (WACLE) continues to grow wider as a vote to decide who will represent Department of Corrections security and public safety employees in the workplace and at the bargaining table draws near. The corrections officers will decide whether or not to rejoin their former union, strike out on their own with the WACLE or continue to work without representation. The vote will take place by mail between June 28 and July 18. The workers will remain unrepresented unless one of the two groups gains 51 percent of the support from its membership. Read More. |
