PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – The state Supreme Court has upheld the conviction of a former Providence police officer who raped a woman inside a police substation. Marcus Huffman, 43, of West Warwick, lost his appeal to overturn his first-degree sexual assault conviction according to a Supreme Court decision released on Wednesday. Prosecutors say Huffman was on duty when he picked up an intoxicated 19 year-old woman outside a Providence nightclub in March 2007 and brought her to a nearby police substation where he raped her.
